Established in 1982 as the American Fidelity Founders Fund, the American Fidelity Foundation was renamed and refocused in early 2007 to better match community needs, to provide increased financial resources, and to compliment other civic involvement by American Fidelity companies and employees.
The Foundation was created to continue the legacy and vision of C.B. and C.W. Cameron, the founders of American Fidelity Assurance Company (AFA). From its start in 1960, AFA has achieved unparalleled success and is now one of the largest private, family-owned life and health insurance companies in the nation.
The Oklahoma City-based company serves more than one million customers in 49 states and 20 countries. The company, comprised of 1,500 colleagues, has offices in 29 locations nationwide.
Since 1982, AFA has consistently been rated “A+” by A. M. Best Company*, one of the leading insurance company rating services in America. American Fidelity has been ranked nine times among FORTUNE magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For in America.
The success of AFA and other American Fidelity companies has helped the Foundation’s assets to grow to more than $17 million.
